Senior Member Location: WI Likes Received 257 | Colt Delta Elite vs Glock 40 I took my stock 2016 Delta Elite to the range today and rented a Glock 40. They added it a few weeks ago and I've been very curious about it as Colts are the only 10mm that I've ever shot. Their Glock was an Austrian made Gen4 with a '-' connector. It's also the first with a seven digit serial number that I've seen and had a '3D in oval' mark on the top of the chamber. There was no red dot attached to it, just the standard Glock sights. I fired fifty rounds through each at seven yards. If I concentrated my tightest groups were 2 to 2.5' and when i didn't they opened up to 4 to 4.5'. It was a mix of Armscor and Sig, both in 180gr FMJ. My Colt was a little more accurate but the Glock surprised me with its softer recoil. It was actually more comfortable than my Glock 21 which sometimes makes my hand cramp up (the 21 and 40 both use the same frame). The Sig branded ammo also had a noticeably heavier kick than the Armscor and is more expensive. The Glock had no malfunctions. The Colt had one failure to go into battery. For anyone interested in a soft shooting 10mm I can definitely recommend the Glock 40. Now I'm curious how it would perform with a threaded barrel and compensator. |
